| Alcoholism and drug addiction create a ripple effect that emanates from the active alcoholic/addict and washes over the lives of those closest to him. Family and friends of the active alcohol/addict struggling to keep their own heads above water in the sea of addictions effects may have unwittingly enabled the substance abuser to continue in their addiction. By paying the addicts bills, making excuses for them or allowing them to continue with other abhorrent actions, family and friends actually did the addict in their life--not to mention themselves--more harm than good.
At The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs, we believe that addiction is a family disease and that you who want to support the addict during and following treatment deserve and need a champion, as well. The Watersheds carefully designed and imminently effective Family Program gives addicts significant others the ability to participate in the process through contact with trained addiction specialists pre and post admission. The Watershed provides the option of family counseling after the addicts admission as well as the Family Weekend Program, and the ability to access information via electronic avenues unique to The Watershed and created to provide helpful resource materials before, during and after your loved one enters The Watershed.
